Artist Statement
I became aware of my creative abilities at a relatively late age,
and with great surprise and astonishment, having thought I was a mere “intellectual.”
The discovery that I could “do something” with my bare hands was amazing
and even more so –
the discovery that I enjoyed it so much.
New life began flowing in me, which continues until today.
Transparent yet existing,
Colorful – yet transparent,
Rigid – yet fragile
Hard, yet at times soft and liquid…
I am magnetically drawn to glass by its unique qualities.
I did not choose Glass Art. It was Glass Art that chose me.
I was drawn to that medium by its magic growing on me, bewitching, enslaving.
I have been working with glass for only the last years.
Two years ago, I early-retired from my job as a City Librarian for Herzliya, Israel.
I wanted to use my time for artwork instead of librarianship.
I am very grateful for the gift of creative ability, I believe it is a gift.
While being creative, I feel a “partner in the process of creating”
(in Hebrew: Shu-taff be-Ma’asae Yetzira)
